Thermal Comfort: 10% gains in productivity
A 2006 study on the relationship between temperature and performance indicated a 10% reduction in performance at both 30C and 15C compared with a baseline between 21C and 23C, leaving little doubt as to the impact thermal comfort has on office occupants. A more recent study in a controlled setting19 indicated a reduction in performance of 4% at cooler temperatures, and a reduction of 6% at warmer ones.
